Bio Identical Hormones

What are Bio-identical Hormones?

Bio-identical hormones are hormones that are structurally identical to the hormones naturally produced in the human body. They are made from plant sources, such as yams or soybeans, and are formulated to mimic the molecular structure of hormones produced by the body, including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

These hormones are often used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to treat symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness, and to prevent osteoporosis. They are also sometimes used in the treatment of other hormone-related conditions, such as thyroid disorders or adrenal insufficiency.

The process of balancing hormones is complex and varies from person to person. Consequently, a standardized approach to hormone balance may not be efficacious. At our organization, we embrace a triad approach to medicine that includes the patient, physician, and pharmacist. Our compounding pharmacists can collaborate with physicians and patients to develop a personalized bio-identical hormone formulation tailored to a specific individual’s needs.
